Wildflower Mix
This adaptable combination of perennials will create an everlasting memory
of your celebration. Columbine starts to bloom in May, followed closely
by Yarrow; they grow to about 2'. Summer warmth brings on the Black-Eyed
Susan and Evening Primrose and Queen Anne's Lace, all extremely easy to

Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens
glauca)
One of America's favorite landscape trees, this evergreen has
sweet smelling blue-green needles and grows to 150' in height. It thrives in
most climates in the USA and can live up to 800 Years. Grows to Zone 8 and -
50 degrees Fahrenheit at approximately 6-10"/year. Blue spruce is
commonly planted in landscapes and is the Colorado and Utah state tree.

Black Pine Tree with its bright pyramidal
head and drooping branches makes a beautiful specimen tree growing to

Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga taxifolia
glauca)
The fir was the first christmas tree with its great height was thought to
bring bright vision to the New Year. Douglas Fir grows to 330" high with
dark blue-green needles, it will grow in anywhere in the US except the deep
south coasts. It is one of the most important western trees for its lumber
value and the Oregon State Tree. (seed packets contain 10-15 seeds/packet)

The Noble Fir is truly
impressive with dark green foliage of the genus Abies. It has a rapid growth
rate and a height of 230 feet at maturity . The Noble Fir is considered an excellent Christmas tree because of

and lights.

Paper (canoe) Birch: (Betula papyrifers

Known for its
amazing fall golden color this landscape tree grows best in moist soil. It
has tremendous winter interest for its beauty and grows to 70 feet.
The paper birch is easily recognized for its peeling white bark, which
actually did find historical use as a paper substitute. An alternate common
name for the tree is canoe birch. The bark, which can be peeled in large
wide strips, was valued for construction of canoes. Paper birch is a tree
of the north woods, very cold tolerant, with most of its range in the
northern United States and in Canada . It is the state tree of New

Loblolly Pine Tree: (Pinus taeda
Improved)
The Loblolly pine was chosen to represent a “Southern pine” it is
the most important pine used in southern pine plantations. A popular shade tree, this southern pine is fast growing versatile
tree adaptable to a wide range of soils from heat & drought tolerant landscapes.
It can grow to 100' height. There are four species of pine native to
Arkansas. Among them, the loblolly pine, also known as the Arkansas pine,
often is cited as the state tree of Arkansas and also Alabama.

Giant Sequoia (Sierra Redwood )or Big Tree: Giant Sequoia is one of the worlds largest trees. Native to the Sierra
Nevada Mountains of California this is an amazing specimen tree reaching the
maximum height of 300 feet. The leaves are evergreen and many living
trees are 1200 or more years old. This mighty sequoia has been successfully
planted in Europe as well as in the western, southern and eastern USA. In
the mid-1930s, interest developed in naming an official state tree to
represent California. This interest centered on the redwoods of the state
that grew taller and broader than any other tree on earth and it became
California's official state tree in 1937 . (contains

Herbal Garden Mix
Rosemary is a hardy perennial symbolizing remembrance. Bridesmaids wove Rosemary
into the bridal wreath then presented it to the bridegroom. For centuries
brides put Dill in their wedding shoes for good luck. Parsley, an annual
grows to 2' high and is used mostly as a garnish. Thyme has long been known
as a symbol of courage. This perennial evergreen is easily grown from seed.

Basic Pesto Sauce
- 1/3 cut
fresh basil leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
-pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup pine
kernels
- 3/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup olive oil
Blend the basil leaves in a blender. Add the garlic and olive
oil and process for a few seconds. Gradually add the pine kernels, Parmesan
cheese and salt. The consistency should be think and creamy.
This quantity of pesto sauce is sufficient for 1 pound
cooked, drained pasta. Mix 2 tablespoons pesto with the pasta and serve on
individual plates with an extra spoonful of pesto on each helping.. |
